Chapaq Ñan, Perú | Joined the Perú Brand to Promote the Dissemination of the National Cultural Heritage

The national Chapaq Ñan Commission joined the Perú brand and the Marca Perú licensing program with the aim to promote the dissemination of the national cultural heritage.

This allow the ancient Andean road system to use the Perú brand with a partnership helps promote Perú’s rich history, beautiful landscapes, and local cultures to people all over the world.

The Chapaq Ñan, is a vast network of ancient roads built by the Inca Empire. It stretches for over 30.000 kilometres across six countries: Perú, Bolivia., Chile, Argentina, Ecuador and Colombia and the system was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2014.

The road system is much more than a network of ancestral roads. Throughout its journey, it integrates landscapes, traditions, cultural expressions and sustainable tourism experiences that allows visitors to connect with the diversity and authenticity of Perú.

Activities such as trekking, landscape observation, photographic routes and experiential tourism find in this heritage an opportunity to promote responsible and decentralised tourism development while supporting the preservation of ancestral customs.

The Perú Brand is a globally recognized symbol of quality and national pride. Linking it with Chapaq Ñan lets the world easily identify this cultural treasure.

The Commission for the Promotion of Perú for Export and Tourism (PROMPERÚ) granted the license to use the Perú brand to the Qhapaq Ñan National Commission, in recognition of its outstanding work in the preservation, enhancement and dissemination of one of the most important cultural legacies in the South American country.

This alliance will allow the Qhapaq Ñan National Commission to continue promoting initiatives that contribute to disseminating Peruvian cultural heritage and reinforcing the country’s image before national and international audiences.

Likewise, the delivery of the license recognizes the valuable contribution of the Qhapaq Ñan National Commission as a driver to streamline Peruvian cultural identity

Twelve years after its inscription on the UNESCO World Heritage List, this road system continues to consolidate itself as one of the main references of the country’s historical heritage, contributing to the positioning of Perú and the strengthening of the Perú brand as a symbol of national pride.

Qhapaq Ñan National Commission thus joins the more than 1.330 licenses that are part of the program, made up of companies, institutions, and organizations from sectors such as tourism, exports, gastronomy, services and culture, committed to promoting the values and attributes that distinguish Perú

In this way, the Perú brand continues to strengthen a network of strategic allies that contribute to projecting the cultural, historical and tourist wealth of the country, generating greater identification among Peruvians and consolidating Perú’s positioning in the world.

The award ceremony was held on June 24, 2026 and was attended by the Technical Secretary of the Qhapaq Ñan National Commission, Alberto Martorell Carreño, and the Head of the Image Strategy and Country Brand Office of PROMPERÚ, Carla Urbano Donayre, as well as representatives of the Decentralized Directorate of Culture of Junín and guests from both institutions.
