Argentina | Strengthening Gastronomic Tourism with New Strategic Partnerships

 

Argentina, the second largest country in South America after Brazil with its continental territory covering a large part of the Southern Cone, nation highlighted by a long, Atlantic coastline, stunning peaks of the imposing Andes, wide valleys,a splendid biodiversity and with a rich cultural heritage,a tourist destination of enormous interest has always stood out also for gastronomic tourism thanks to a notable tradition strongly connected to this segment.

Linked to all that it’s enough to mention the excellence of its meats known all over the world for a superb quality, excellent vegetables, delicious confectionary, fine wines with a gastronomy based on the basis of old Italian and Spanish culinary art that it has been fused with the indigenous cuisine of the country.

In the latest edition of the FIT Latin America also known as "Feria Internacional de Turismo de America Latina" considered a top tourism fair in South America, excellent setting to expand commercial horizons in tourist industry and access door to the most avant - garde trends, disruptive technologies and chances to stand in the industry which was held in the capital of the country Buenos Aires,  FEHGRA, the Federation of Gastronomic Hotel Companies, held important meetings with senior tourism officials from various provinces.

FEHGRA's presence at FIT 2024 was undoubtedly of enormous importance,organization that since 1941 is the Hotel and Gastronomy Business Federation of the Argentine Republic has represented all the activity in the country aimed to defend the interest of the sector and collaborate in the development of the hotel, gastronomy and tourism industry,  entity which brings together more than 84,000 companies was a key presence highlighting meetings with business leaders in the tourism industry during the four-day event that took place from september 28th september to 1st october at La Rural exhibition center in Buenos Aires. 

 On the occasion of this event FEHGRA signed important agreements with the provinces ofCórdoba, Neuquén and Salta to implement the "Hola ! Argentina" programme.

  "Hola ! Argentina" is an inititiative that aims to showcase the country's most spectacular places, its gastronomy, hotels, traditions and personalities through the eyes of artist and photographer Gabriel Rocca, an open invitation to explore and connect with the rich diversity Argentina offers.

This campaign began in Jujuy, province in Argentina's remote northwest at the border with Bolivia and Chile, a stunning land defined by the suggestive hills of the Quedraba de Humahuaca also highlighted by dramatic rock formations.

The second stop was in Neuquén, a captivating city which occupies a strip of land west of the confluence of the Neuquén and Limay rivers which together form the Rio Negro and making part of the ecoregion of Alto Valle del Rio Negro where the agreement with Minister Gustavo Fernández Capiet was signed.

The third stage saw as protagonist Córdoba splendid  city on the Suquia River in the foothills of the picturesque Sierras Chicas well known for its stylish,colonial architecture where the agreement was signed by the President of the Córdoba Tourism Agency Dario Capitani.

In Salta,captivating city founded in 1582 in the mountainous northwestern of the country well known for its Andean heritage and traditional Spanish architecture and its splendid neoclassical Cathedral, Minister Mario Peña joined the initiative.

The signing of the so - called Framework Agreement for collaboration with the provinces of Córdoba, Neuquén and Salta is a significant step towards promoting gastronomic tourism in Argentina also for the value and resources closely linked to the sector that these territories boast.

All these agreements also not only strengthen the collaboration between FEHGRA and the provinces but are aimed at uniting peoples through gastronomy by generating identity and real employment.

Now FEHGRA has also presented the initiative to several tourism leaders from other Argentine provinces, including that of the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires, meeting with officials such as the President of the CABA Tourism Board,Valentin Diaz Gilligan, and the Vice Governor of Tierra del Fuego, Mónica Urquiza, among others.

The primary objective and goal is that in this expansion each province adheres to this campaign by creating a collaborative network that promotes tourism throughout Argentina.

Undoubtedly, gastronomy plays a crucial role in attracting tourism and this initiative at a national level seeks to show not only the typical dishes of each region but also the destinations, itineraries, landscapes, culture that surrounds every corner of the country to promote in depth the national tourism in all its essence.
