Riyadh Air | Agreement for 60 Airbus A321neo to Expand and Diversify the Fleet

 

Riyadh Air, a planned second flag carrier airline for Saudi Arabia, founded in 2023 by Mohammed Bin Salman based in its capital Riyadh that according to SPA, Saudi Press Agency will be owned by the country's PIF, Public Investment Fund,  has announced that it has reached an agreement for 60 Airbus A321neo a single-aisle airliner created by Airbus, an European Aerospace Corporation to expand and diversify the fleet.

The airline of the Saudi Kingdom has announced that it will start to operate a fleet consisting of aircraft with 39 Boeing 787 - 9 also known as the Dreamliner, a mid-size, twin engine jet aircraft designed for long – haul flights which will be the first aircraft to enter into operation at the time of the start of the operational phase alongside Airbus for narrow-body aircraft.

At the moment there is still no certainty about the mix of models chosen by the Saudi company, the company's top management has mentioned Airbus A321neo Family's that as simpleflying.com, the leading independent voice for aviation news and insight informs, both some LRs and XLRs may be included.

Riyadh Air CEO Tony Douglas commented that this investment will not only allow the airline to support the economic growth of the sector but will ensure that Riyadh Air operates one of the most energy-efficient fleets and this strategy will be instrumental in helping Saudi Arabia achieving its decarbonization goals.
