Yucatán state of Mexico located in the southeast of the of the territory in the northern part of the peninsula of the same name, well known for its pristine beaches, gulf, its rich historical and cultural heritage where it stands out its archeological site of Chichén Itzá with its pyramid Kuculcá, a pre- Columbian Temple built by the Mayans and UNESCO World Heritage Site and part of the list of the "New Seven Wonders" established in 2007 has launched a solid regional and international tourism promotion led by Sefotur.
The functions of Sefotur is to propose to head of the Executive the implementation of policies, programs and actions aimed at promoting, encouraging and developing the tourist activities of the entity in the territory.
The Head of the Sefotour Tourism Development Secretariat of Yucatán Darío Flota announced plans for an intense tourism promotion to improve the entity's hotel occupancy at the end of the year.
The leader of Sefotur will then be in the Riviera Maya on the occasion of an event related to romantic tourism, then participating to the Congress of the Caribbean Cruise Federation in St. Martin to promote Yucatán as destination.
The Head of Sefotur pointed out that he will attend an event of the International Association for the Promotion of Tourist Destinations and in early November there will be the participation to the International Exhibition for the Promotion of Tourist Destinations in Montreal, Canada and the next stage will be the WTM, World Trade Market in London.
The Head of the Secretariat for the Development of Tourism of Yucatán will then take care of the reorganization of Sefotur and the Tourism Trust, therefore the agency under his charge will launch some campaigns to take advantage of those markets that can react more quicky to tourism promotion, such as Quintana Roo and Campeche.
Sefotur is also working on promotional slogans for next year because the Yucatán has a huge number of attractions that they want to promote.
After being in Valladolid and Tekax, Sefotur will continue with Tizmin and meet the suppliers of Rio Lagartos so that tourism is not concentrated only in Mérida, the capital of the state of Yucatán and the largest city in southeastern Mexico.
