Laos, the only landlocked country in Southeast Asia, traversed by the Mekong River, characterized by dramatic landscapes made up of mountains, high plateaus, a dense vegetation typical of subtropical forests with a notable historical and cultural heritage linked to the kingdom of Lan Xang established in the 14th century, its French colonial architecture and hill tribe settlements and Buddhist monasteries is experiencing an international tourism up 19% significantly with new tourist proposals.
According to data recorded by the Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism of Laos in the first ten months of the current year Laos received 3.3 international visitors a data which already meets the goal of 2024.
This notable figure reveals a growth of 19% compared to the same period in 2023, Thailand, Vietnam and China are the main source markets for international visitors very attracted by this country.
It should be noted that Visit Laos Year 2024
programme is passing with a a very interesting tourist proposal with the theme
"A paradise of culture, nature and history" an initiative with a
total of 75 activities taking place throughout the country which undoubtedly
boosts the interest towards Laos as a tourist destination of high interest.
A further positive point linked to this tourism growth is also thanks to a significant improvement in the services provided in hotels, guesthouses and restaurants, along with the opening of new facilities in attractive tourist sites to improve the visitor experience.
