Morocco, North African country bordering the Mediterranean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean, part of the Maghreb Region, land boasting a rich historic heritage distinguished by its Berber, Arabian and European cultural influences through its authorities identified tourism priorities for the coming years concerning the future of tourism activity in view of the many international events planned in the country, between 2025 and 2030.
In this way, the new prospects for the tourism sector were an analysed in the light of the major events that Morocco is preparing to organize, plans that are also linked to the Morocco's 2030 agenda which includes goals to reduce emissions, improve digital services and achieve sustainable development.
The guidelines of the new course were defined during meeting chaired by the Minister of Tourism, Crafts and Social and Solidarity Economy Fatima – Xahra Ammor in the presence of the members of the CNT, the National Confederation of Tourism.
The Minister said that the country is at a decisive turning point, Moroccan tourism has demonstrated its potential with exceptional results but the challenges ahead, such as the co - organisation of the World Cup 2030 with Spain and Portugal require full mobilisation.
In addition, the Minister called for the development of a concrete action plan on three priorities subdivided in these steps :
· To strengthen tourism infrastructures, in line with air development, either in terms of increasing capacity or modernizing existing establishments.
· To improve the quality of service to meet the ambitions of the sector. Emphasis should also be placed to strengthening the training of young talents.
· Focusing on the importance of territorial promotion to develop new tourist destinations, in addition to those that are already mature. This approach aims to diversify the Moroccan tourist offer and compensate for the strong seasonality of certain regions, thus allowing a more balanced distribution of tourist flows throughout the year and throughout the national territory.
As additional note was mentioned that Morocco recorded 15.9 million tourist arrivals during the first eleven months of 2024, representing a growth of 20%, with 2.6 million more visitors compared to the same period in 2023 and these prirorites are identified to grow furthermore in the coming years.
