Uruguay, South American country, known for its verdant interior, with vast plains, lagoons and beach lined coast on the Atlantic Ocean in a recent study, commissioned by tourism entrepreneurs is expecting to receive 400.000 international visitors more in 2025 highlighting that there will be with this data a 10% growth in tourism compared to the previous season with also the Uruguayan Tour Operators that believe that the recently inaugurated will be better than that of 2024.
Regarding the projections, they indicate that since the collapse of tourism activity caused by the Covid - 19 pandemic, tourism has been recovering, year after year, and increases in participation in Uruguay's GDP with a relevant tourism growth.
A Report by CERES, Center for the Study and Social Reality, projects that this growth is explained by the improvement in the price gap with Argentina and the strengthening of the salary in dollars of Argentines.
It is highlighted that the main customers are Argentine visitors and the reduction of the price gap between one country and the other means that Uruguay is not as expensive a destination, as in the previous year.
Of notable relevance is also the elimination of the so called "PAIS Tax" together with the high prices in Miami anre other elements that play in favour of tourists from Argentina to Uruguay.
It is considered that the arrival of international tourists would grow by 10% in the Summer and CERES projects that 1.2 million would enter in the country, which represents 10%, 105.000 more people than in the previous season, in figures similar to that of the summer of 2022 – 2023 and just above that of 2018 – 2019.
Other details concern that after years where other origins partially compensated for an increase the drop of Argentines, there will be an increase in Argentines, a drop in Brazilian visitors and stability of other origins with heterogeneity by country.
