Greenland | A New Airport Providing a Better Air Connectivity Between the Arctic and the Atlantic Oceans

Greenland, autonomy territory in the Kingdom of Denmark, the world's largest island situated between the Arctic and Atlantic oceans, east of the Canadian Arctic Archipelago noted for its vast tundra, immense glaciers, with a population of just 56.000 scattered in a few coastal towns, remote villages and small fishing harbours has a new, rebuilt airport in the capital Nuuk providing a better air connectivity from and to this land.

The new airport has a 2.200 - metre runway, two taxiways and a terminal, allowing larger aircraft to land in Nuuk, including widebody jets like the Airbus A330neo, the construction also included rerouting access roads from Nuuk City, and building parking, lighting and water and sewer pipeline, an airport expected to boost tourism and economic growth.

Greenland is also halfway to completing two airport facilities, which will motivate better air connection with the intention to put itself on the tourist map landing on a huge territory but with a small population and attracting many more visitors from Europe and North America, opening up endless travel options that did exist before.

In 2025 Greenland will see new flight routes, a new sector plan, and more opportunities for visitors to enjoy a unique destination between tha Arctic and Atlantic Oceans that combine such magnificent scenery highlighted by stunning jagged mountains, icefjords, icebergs, Norse ruins, lush farmlands, wildlife spotting including whale watching and much more.
