Aeroparque Internacional Jorge Newberry, an international airport 2.0 kilometres northwest of downtown Buenos Aires, Argentina, covering an area of 138 hectares and operated by Aeropuertos Argentina 2000 S.A., located along the Río de la Plata in the bustling Palermo neighborhood of the capital of Argentina, serving as the main hub for domestic flights in Argentina and South American destinations was awarded as the Best Airport in America on the occasion of the Routes Americas award in the category Airports from 4 to 20 million passengers, at a gala held in Nassau, in the Bahamas.
The Argentine Airport was consecrated as the best in entire America in 2024, after having competed with all the airports on the continent and in the ranking it was ahead of Calgary International Airport, Canada, Indianapolis International Airport, U.S., Sarasota Bradenton International Airport, U.S. and Floripa Airport, Brazil.
In the last five years, Aeropuertos Argentina's investment was more than $1.000 million with the development new terminals, runways and taxiways, in a plan coordinated by Orsna, the Argentine federal agency that regulates the country's airports.
In addition, the first stage of the national passenger boarding hall, PIR, Partida Inspection and Registration Post was inaugurated which required an investment of $11.5 million and tripled its square metres going from 400m2 to 1354m2.
The General Manager of Aeroparque Internacional Jorge Newberry, Marcelo Bujan, said that this achievement is a reaffirmation of an airport that continues to provide excellent services that place it among the best in the continent and in addition a hub to develop country's air connectivity, an aspect that is a main objective as well as constantly growing to meet the demands of travellers.
