Rome, the capital of Italy and of the Lazio region located in the central – western portion of the Italian Peninsula along the shores of the Tiber Valley often referred to as the City of the Seven hills due to its geographic location, considered to be the cradle of Western civilization and West Christian culture, named the "Eternal City" by the ancient Romans because they believed that not matter what happened in the rest of the world, with its centre by foot surrounded by glorious minumenlts and colossal remains has been protagonist of more than 1000 works and 200 projects for the Jubilee of 2025.
The city celebrates the Jubilee iun 2025, the holy year that the Vatican state has convoked periodically since 1300 in the Middle Ages by Pope Boniface VIII, centered around pilgrimage to Rome, when the Catholic Church offers, the forgiveness of sins for its faithful and a spiritual renewal that is going to be a great media event with the Italian capital that will be the destination of millions of pilgrims from all over the world.
During the past 2024, more than 1.000 works have been carried out in Rome to beautify the city, to give more shine to the Italian capital and among more than 200 projects, among them the remodeling of Tor Vergata, southeastern residential district of the Eternal City, home to the famed Tor Vergata University in the territory of the Municipio Roma VI standing on the south side of the Via Casilina.
A further remodeling concerns the area of Prenestino - Centocelle, the nineteenth district of Rome, officially formed in 1961, obtained from the eastern section of the Prenestino - Labicano district will host some of the most important events of the Jubilee in which the Pope will also participate along with hundreds of thousands of faithful.
Also the central and important square Piazza San Giovanni in Laterano developed in the 4th century on a 1st century villa and a 2nd century thermal building, as a place of worship for the Christian community, on which is located the iconic Archbasilica of Saint John in Lateran, the Catholic Cathedral of the Diocese of Rome, founded in 324, the oldest public church in the city of Rome has also been renovated and embellished, as a place of faith and meeting and it will have a new pavement, green flowerbeds and flush fountains with water features.
Among the projects worth a mention to the realization of a tunnel that should relieve traffic and define a relevant pedestrian area of Piazza Piazza, the square located between the emblematic Via della Conciliazione urban artery leading to the iconic St. Peter Square and Castel Sant' Angelo, the emblematic mausoleum of the Emperor Hadrian, that the Popes used as a fortress and castle and it is now a museum, transformed into Rome's grand stage for the Jubilee in a vast pedestrian haven for 150.000 people framed by fountains, greenery and timeless charm.
