Great Britain | VisitBritain Published its Inbound Tourism Forecast for 2025

VisitBritain, the name used by the British Tourist Authority, formerly known as the British Travel & Holiday Association, the tourist board of the United Kingdom incorporated under the development of Tourist Act 1969 and created in 2003 has published its inbound tourism forecast for 2025.

This information shows that international visits in general and visitor spending in the United Kingdom will increase from 2024 levels, albeit with different growth rate between its main inbound markets.

VisitBritain forecasts a 7% increase in visitors in 2025 with a significant contribution from the tourism coming from the United States spending spending  £33.7 billion and a record 43.4 million visits are forecast, up 5% from the 41.2 million of last year.

According to VisitBritain data the United States of America remain the largest and most valuable visitor market in the United Kingdom and U.S. spending is forecast to rise by 9% to a record  £6.7 billion this year, meaning that almost £1.0 in 5 of inbound visitor spending in the United Kingdom is from the United States.

Europe’s visits and spending overall are showed growth in 2024, although the picture is mixed in the main Europe gateway markets while concerning East Asia’s recovery overall remains slow but the number continue to improve and China is forecast to be the United Kingdom fifth most valuable visitor market again in 2025, generating an estimated £1.6 billion worth in the economy.

VisitBritain’s analysis also takes in account tourism global competitive position and long-– term growth potential, and if imbound tourism to Great Britain were to grow at the same rate as current forecasts indicate for Western Europe, the sector would contribute an additional £4.4 billion a year to the United Kingdom economy by 2030.

The Minister of Tourism of Great Britain, Chris Bryant said that it’s no secret that the UK is one of the best places in the to visit, with lively cities and towns, stunning scenery, beautiful beaches, incredible film and television locations, remarkable historical sights and world – class culture and entertainment, there is something for everyone ncouraging more people to visit even more parts of this amazing country.

The ambition is to to welcome 50 million international visitors a year to the UK by 2030., and this positive forecast shows that the country is well on its way to achieving this, laying the foundations for the visitor economy to maintain its competitive edge and thrive for years to come.

The Chief Executive of VisitBritain, Patricia Yates, said that international visitors spend tens of billions of pounds in the UK and the money generated supports jobs and businesses driving the growth of local economies, so it’s encouraging to see the steady increase forecast for this year.

Imbound tourism is already generating 7% year - on - year growth in value, with huge potential to generate further growth for the economy. Tourism is also an extremely competitive global industry, visitors have a lot of options and the country faces fierce competition, especially from European neighbours.
