Six Senses Hotels, Resorts Spas, a luxury hospitality brand known for its focus on wellness, sustainability, and unique experiences, with prtoperties around the world, founded in 1995 by Sonu and Eva Shivdasani and now part of IHG Hotels & Resorts, renowned British multinational hospitality company based in Windsor, Berkshire, England, UK will open a new hotel in Bangkok’s Silom district in Thailand.
The hotel brand has entered a hotel management agreement with Narai Hospitality Group, a hotel owner, operator and real estate investor, which manages hotels from select - service to full service, boutique, luxury, independent stay and serviced apartments headquartered in Bangkok, to open Six Senses Bangkok.
The hotel will be part of the Hatai visionary mixed - used development, which is situated on the site of the former Narai Hotel, which opened in 1968 that was a significant establishment in Thailand hospitality sector, a beloved accommodation for travellers, celebrities and royalty.
Hatai will emerge as Bangkok's new "lantern quarter", illuminating the city's cultural heritage through sustainable and progressive design and serving to revitalise the entire area.
The Hatai development, where the hotel will be located, will also feature premium retail and dining experiences, and community gathering spaces across almost 6.000 square metres. It will be within easy reach of transport links including the BTS and MRT networks, with nearby attractions including Sri Maha Mariamman Temple and King Power Mahanakhon with its popular SkyWalk inviting guests to discover and enjoy ancient traditions and contemporary Thai life.
The hotel will open its doors on Silom Road, in Silom district, a major business and nighlife area in Bangkok, known for its skycrapers, financial institutions and vibrant nighlife. The district is often referred to as "Bangkok's Wall Street", particularly during the day due to its concentration of banks and businesses. By night, Silom transforms itself into a lively area with a mix of trendy bars and renowned clubs.
Silom's proximity to the Chao Phraya River enhances its leisure appeal, while food enthusiasts will appreciate the diverse culinary scene from fine dining to authentic local street food.
The construction of Six Senses Bangkok is currently underway, with design by Heatherwick Studio, a multi - award winning British design and architecture studio – buildings, spaces, master - plans, objects and infrastructure based in London and the project part of a broader effort to revitalize the area aims to reflect traditional craftmanship and local culture.
BAR Studio is responsible for the interior design, which will extend to the main restaurant and a sky lobby connected by a sky garden and in addition the original wooden foundation of the Narai Hotel will be incorporated into the new hotel's interior design.
The hotel will feature approximately 100 rooms and suites, a 700 - square metres suite, a signature restaurant designed by Joyce Wang, a rooftop pool and the Six Senses Spa Bangkok, which will offer a range of wellness treatments.
The development is targeting LEED Gold and WELL Gold certifications, with an emphasis on sustainable building practices.
Six Senses Bangkok is expected to open in 2028, shortly after the 60th anniversary of the original Narai Hotel, continuing the legacy of the site.
The development of the hotel is part of a broader expansion strategy joining other Six Senses properties in Thailand, such as Six Senses Samui and Six Senses Yao Noi. The brand has also announced hotels in several international locations, including Dubai, London, and Milan.
