Barceló Hotel Group | Investing more than €50 million for the Construction of a New Luxury Propery on the Island of Sal, Cape Verde

Barceló Hotel Group, hospitality division of Barceló Group, Spanish company founded in 1931 and headquartered in Palma de Mallorca with the laying of the foundation stone of the luxury Royal Hideaway Santa Maria on the island of Sal, an island in Cape Verde, a tourist destination famous for its white sandy beaches, a tropical climate, and over 350 days of sunshine a year,  marks its fourth investment in the African archipelago, where the company already has two five - stat hotels and one - four star hotel.

There are more than €50 million in investment for the construction pf this future luxury property which will be completed in the last quarter 2027, a hotel that will feature 248 comfortable rooms, of which 30 will be suites. 

About 180 people collaborate in the development of this project and Barceló Hotel Group’s total investment in Cape Verde, since it arrived in the archipelago in 2024, the figure are even more important : €150 million, spread over four projects, and for the country’s economy, this is also translated into the creation of about 500 direct jobs and another 500 indirect jobs,  with an offer of a total of 1200 beds.

The Barceló Hotel Group held the ceremony on the island of Sal to lay the foundation stone of what will be the fourth hotel in Cape Verde attended by co - President of the Spanish hotel company Simon Pedro Barceló, the Prime Minister of the African country, José Ulisses Correia e Silva, and the Mayor of Sal,  Júlio Lopes dos Reis.

The co - President of the Barceló Hotel Group stated that this fourth investment that the company is making in Cape Verde, this time for the luxury segment, under the Royal Hideaway banner, clearly demonstrates the commitment of Barceló Hotel Group to this destination. 

It should be note that Cape Verde is one of the 31 countries in which Barceló Hotel Group is present, a chain that boasts more than 300 properties in the world, on four continents.
