Ethiopia is actively working to enhance its tourism industry developing infrastructure like highways and airports, creating new attractions such as Unity Park, the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam, launching the “Visit Ethiopia” digital platform, and expanding its offerings into eco - tourism and wellness sectors.
These efforts, including partnerships for aviation and heritage site restoration, aim to boost visitor experience, economic growth and showcase Ethiopia’s rich culture and natural wonders, as seen in recent growth and international acclaim.
To boost tourism access the African country is exploring potential collaboration with Czech industrial group Omnipol, a firm with over 90 years of experience based in Prague, providing high - tech products for aviation aerospace and defence sectors and bringing together the famous manufacturing companies Aircraft Industries, ERA and MESIT.
Ethiopia is focusing to strengthen its aviation capabilities in support of tourism development and this initiative follows the country’s participation in the Prague exhibition of the iconic hominid fossils Lucy and Selam.
Ethiopian Minister of Tourism Selamawith Kassa during a visit to Omnipol’s facilities reviewed small aircraft models designed to improve access to remote destinations, with the goal of expanding tourism infrastructure and promoting lesser - known sites across the country.
The talks built on established aviation ties between Ethiopia and the Czech Republic and focused on strategic integration of aviation services into the African country’s broader tourism plans.
Omnipol with several decades of experience in the aviation sector, expressed interest in supporting Ethiopia’s efforts to enhance its connectivity and visitor experience.
The visit also capped Ethiopia’s cultural showcase in Prague, which attracted international attention and further highlighted the country’s historical and scientific significance.
