Hilton Worldwide Holdings, Inc., American multinational company based in Tysons, Virginia is expanding its portfolio in Africa introducing its Tapestry Collection by Hilton brand with three new properties located in Kenya, Rwanda and South Africa, marking the brand’s debut in the region.
This move is part of Hilton’s broader strategy to increase its presence in the Sub Saharan -Africa, with plans to open over 100 new hotels across the continent in the coming years.
The company has signed agreements for these three properties :
Ava Hotel Nairobi, Tapestry Collection by Hilton, Kenya - The hotel will be located in the Lavington suburb of Nairobi, the capital and largest city of the country, an upscale residential neighbourhood known for its luxurious properties and amenities.Situated in the Westlands sub - county and Kilimani wards, the area offers a mix of tranquillity and convenience, bordering well - known areas like Kileleshwa and Kilimani, a neigbourhood which features high - end apartments, villas and mansions, and is home to prestigious schools and healthcare facilities.
The strategic location offers a convenient access to Nairobi’s Central Business District and Jomo Kenyatta International Airport making the hotel very suitable for business and leisure travellers.
The hotel, signed with AVA Hotel Limited will be Hilton’s fifth property in Kenya and will feature 91 rooms, a rooftop bar and restaurant, an outdoor pool, a fitness centre and meeting spaces.
Zaria Court Kigali, Tapestry Collection by Hilton, Rwanda - The hotel developed by Zaria Group will be Hilton’s first property in Rwanda and is set to open later this year. Located in Kigali, capital city of the nation, roughly in the centre of the country, sprawling across numerous hills, ridges and valleys, well known for its vibrant restaurant and nighlife scene.
The hotel is situated at KG 17 Ave, in a lively area steps from Amahoro Stadium and Kigali’s BK Arena, providing proximity to international concerts, conferences, and sporting events and just minutes from Kigali International Airport. The property will feature 80 rooms, an all - day dining restaurant, a sport bar, a rooftop lounge, a pool, a fitness centre, and a co - working space.
The Sterling Hotel, Tapestry Collection by Hilton, South Africa - The hotel will be located in Sibaya, between Umhlanga and Ballito in KwaZulu - Natal, directly adjacent to the M4 Highway. The location provides access to local attractions like Dolphin Coast beaches and is a a short distance from King Shaka International Airport and Durban Convention Centre.
Developed in partnership with Crown Pound (Pty) , the hotel is expected to open in 2027 and will feature 111 rooms, an all - day restaurant, a lobby café and bar, an outdoor pool, and a terrace.
The properties in Kenya and Rwanda will be managed by Aleph Hospitality, the largest independent management company in the Middle East and Africa, a group based in Dubai, UAE, specializes in operations and development of international brands.
Hilton currently operates 64 hotels in Africa and has plans to nearly triple its presence in the continent to more than 160 hotels in the coming years.
