Turkey | Welcomed 50 Million International Visitors in the First 9 Months of 2025

Turkey, a popular destination with a tourism success stems from a blend of cultural and historical attractions, diverse natural landscapes, boasting a strategic location straddling Europe and Asia providing a unique cultural crossroads, boasting a stunning coastline and a varied terrain offering diverse recreational opportunities, the world’s fourth - largest incoming tourism market according to UN Tourism’s 2024 data, welcomed 50 million international visitors in the first 9 months of 2025. 

The country, a relevant Mediterranean tourism hub reported significant growth in both visitor numbers and tourism revenues and in the mentioned period generated over US$50 billion in tourism revenue, representing a 5.7% increase from 2024.

The 50 million international visitors stayed an average of 10.3 nights, spending approximately US$103 per person per night, reflecting a 7% rise from the previous year. 

In this period Turkey’s top markets for visitors were the Russian Federation with 5.53 million followed by Germany, 5.22 million and the UK with 3.54 million. 

The Minister of Culture and Tourism for the Republic of Turkey, Mehment Nuri Ersoy stated that the country welcoming 50 million international visitors in the first nine months of the current year marked a 1.6% growth compared to the same period last year.

Despite these brilliant performances the official declared that the first nine months of 2025 presented significant challenges due to the effects of regional conflicts and seasonal shifts caused by global warming. 

The head of Turkey tourism added that nevertheless, thanks to the country’s strategy, the destination has exceeded last year’s revenue by 5.7%  and looking ahead to the rest of the year, the objective is to achieve the target of US$64 billion in revenue.
