IHG Hotels & Resorts, British multinational hospitality company based in Windsor, Berkshire, England, UK, is planning to open a new 100 - Room Holiday Inn Express hotel in Mumbai, also known as Bombay, a densely populated metropolis on India’s west coast characterized by a melting pot of communities and culture, an active centre and financial hub, home of Mumbai Stock Exchange, Bollywood, renowned Film Industry and highlighted by a vibrant atmosphere with numerous bars, restaurants and entertainment options.
For the development of the hotel, IHG Hotels & Resorts has signed a franchise agreement with YB Group, a global leader in diverse sectors committed to innovation, sustainability and growth headquartered in Mumbai, a development that is part of IHG’s strategy to expand its presence in high - demand markets across India.
The property is scheduled to open in the first quarter of 2028 and will be located in the outskirts of Mumbai’s Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC), located in the eastern suburbs Mumbai, between the suburbs of Bandra and Kurla, near the Mithi River.
The area is well – connected via roads like the Santacruz - Chembur Link Road, Western Express Highway, and the BKC Road and with a dedicated metro station, providing easy access to the airport and other key areas, making it Mumbai’s central business.
The complex is a premier financial and commercial hub in a planned district with corporate HQs, financial instutions like Citi, ICICI, IT firms, upscale malls (Phoenix Marketcity), consulates and cultural spots like Jio World Centre, developed ny MMRDA.
The area features hotels, dining, shopping and entertainment options, and the future Holiday Inn Express aims to serve international and domestic business delegates, MICE visitors, and leisure travellers.
The hotel will join Holiday Inn Express, IHG Hotels & Resorts’ largest and fastest - growing brand, with over 3.200 hotels worldwide. The brand focuses on smart, simple travel with essential comforts, functional designs for work and relaxation, all powered by IHG’s loyalty program and streamlined operations for cost - efficiency, aiming for a hassle - free experience for on the - go - travellers.
This future 100 - room property will be the third Holiday Inn Express under development by IHG Hotels & Resorts in Mumbai, joining projects in Andheri - Kurla Road and Powai and the company also plans to open a voco hotel in the city by mid - 2026.
The group’s current operational portfolio in Mumbai includes the InterContinental Marine Drive Mumbai and Holiday Inn Mumbai International Airport.
IHG Hotels & Resorts currently operates 51 hotels across six brands in India, including Six Senses, InterContinental Hotels and Resorts, Crowne Plaza, voco Hotels, Holiday Inn Resort and Holiday Inn Express. The company has a pipeline of 80 hotels set to open in the next three to five years.
