The Social Hub | Submitted Plans to Develop a £200 Million Venue in Edinburgh, Scotland, UK

The Social Hub, hybrid hospitality brand founded in 2006 by the Scottish entrepreneur Charlie MacGregor and headquartered in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, has submitted plans to create a £200 million venue in Edinburgh, the capital of Scotland, a city filled with history, culture, engaging attractions, beautiful architecture, highlighted by its charming medieval Old Town and the elegant Georgian New Town, gardens, neoclassical buildings, and well known to be UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The company said that it is in advanced negotiations for a plot of land at the former Fountain Brewery site in Fountainbridge, which has been vacant for around 20 years.

The future establishment will be The Social Hub second project in the UK and public consultations will take place on 8 December and 26 January as plans move forward.

Fountainbridge is a former industrial area in Edinburgh that is now a modern district for business and leisure, located just west of the Old Town. Along the Union Canal, a popular for walking and cycling. The neighbourhood features a multiplex cinema, bowling, restaurants, shops, and residential developments, and is also known as the birthplace of famous actor Sean Connery.

Plans for the Social Hub call for a 560 - bed venue comprising extended stay rooms, hotel suites, and rooms for students. Amenities include coworking space, space for up to 300 people, event spaces, gym and wellness areas, a bar and restaurant.

Buccleuch Property, a private investment and development group based in Edinburgh and Cruden Homes, one of Scotland’s largest development and construction groups, also headquartered in Edinburgh are leading the masterplan redevelopment of Fountainbridge, which includes the future The Social Hub property, hundreds of new homes, office and retail, and public spaces.
