The Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL), a hospitality firm part of Tata Group and based in Mumbai, has entered into an agreement to develop a new SeleQtions hotel in Digha, a seaside resort town located in the Purba Medinipur district in the east Indian State of West Bengal, situated at the northern end of the Bay of Bengal.
Digba is adorned by the virtue of her own natural beauty with the broad and vast blue sea and intoxicating rows od Casurina trees overlooking the sea, a popular coastal tourist destination known for its low gradient and shallow sand beaches, considered the finest hard beaches of the world.
Sir Warren Hastings in one of his 1780 letters to his wife called Digba beach as the “Brighton of the East”. Digba has remained a favoured holiday spot for decades, it is a West Bengal’s Bengal most visited sea resort with beaches that stretch over 7 km, highlighted by New and Old Digha beaches, Talsari Beach, and other attractions like Marine Aquarium & Regional Centre, Digha Science Centre, and Amarabati Park.
.The planned hotel is described as a greenfield project and will be branded under the SeleQtions portfolio, a project that involves a partnership between The Indian Hotels Company Limited and Ambuja Neotia Group,, ,a company headquartered in Kolkata, a prominent Indian conglomerate with diverse interests in real estate, hospitality, healthcare, and education, renowned for its commitment to sustainability and creating properties famous for their innovative design.
The property will feature 56 comfortable rooms, an all - day restaurant, a bar, a swimming pool, a spa, a fitness centre, and meeting venues.
The hotel will join the SeleQtions brand, a curated collection of properties known for their individual personality and special character, offering unique experiences and featuring a strong connection to their local context, historic lieange, design, or a distinct creative theme, appealing to experiential travellers.
