Minor Hotels | Announced the Opening of its First Tented Safari Camp under the Anantara Brand in Kafue National Park, Zambia

Minor Hotels, an international operator, investor and owner in the hospitality industry founded in 1978 and based in Bangkok, Thailand, has announced the opening of its first tented safari camp under the Anantara brand in Kafue National Park, Zambia’s oldest and largest reserve, spanning 22.400 square kilometres located in the western part of the country, known for its abundant wildlife and the Kafue River,  running north to suth through the park.

The Park features vast miombo woodlands, the renowned seasonal floodplains of the Busanga Plains, and the scenic Lake Itezhi – Tezhi. 

The opening of the Amantara Tented Camp Kafue River coincides with the ongoing wildlife restoration initiative in the park, which is home of over 150 mammals including elephants, hippos, a high diversity of antelope and apex predators as well as more than 500 birds species.

Designed by Meg Ralph Spaces, a renowned interior design studio behind luxury boutique hotels and premier safari lodges, headquartered in Cape Town, South Africa and recognized by the LIV Hospitaslity Design Awards, the camp operates entirely on solar power, uses on - site water purification and bottling, and has eliminated single - use plastics.

Prefrabricated structures preserve existing trees, and soft red lighting is used at night to minimise disturbance to nocturnal wildlife.

The 13 - key camp is positioned on timber platforms at least 3.5 metres above ground level, providing views of the Kafue River and maintaining wildlife movement along nearly seven metres of river frontage.

Accommodations includes three Horizon Terrace Suites, each suspended 14.3 metres above the ground and accessed by a glass elevator, with upper - level star beds and decks. Nine Pool and Bush Villas offer private plunge pools and indoor spa rooms.

The 400 - square - metre Presidential Villa features elevated river views, exclusive boat access, and a private spa zone. All villas are supported by dedicated hosts for dining, activities, and wellness arrangements.

Dining options at the camp include a floating pontoon on the river for breakfast, afternoon tea and sunset dinners. Luzuba Harvestry and Twalumba Bar & Lounge serve modern Zambian cuisine, afternoon tea, cocktails, and fireside gatherings, while Spice Spoons offers Zambian cooking classes.

Wellness services at the property feature in - room Anantara Spa treatments and steam sessions in suites and villas. A floating Technogym fitness platform anchored in the river is available for private training, yoga and relaxation.

Activities in the camp include game drives, river safaris, guided walks, birdwatching, stargazing, bush picnics, and catch - and - release fishing.

The property joins Anantara brand that boasts more than 50 properties globally. The brand is known for its emphasis on authentic luxury through its three pillars : Indigenous, Expertise, and Authentic Luxury, characterized by a new, modern visual identity with an updated logo and tagline “Unforgettable Journeys” which reflects its global presence.
