Puerto Esperanza, Cuba | Punto Náutico, a New Tourist Product Combining Adventure, Sun and Beach in the Caribbean

The Punto Náutico (nautical point) is today a new tourist product combining adventure, and the attractions of sun and beach with its natural values in Puerto Esperanza, a quiet, off - the beaten - path seaside town within the Los Colorados archipelago in the province of Pinar del Río in western Cuba, located about 25 km north of the famous Viñales Valley, a destination known for its slow pace, authentic culture, mango plantations, and long boardwalk out into the Caribbean.

The Puerto Esperanza nautical point is currently a new commitment of Cuban tourism, the investment in the region with the category of protected area of managed resources aims to articulate with the main tourist destination of Vueltabajo, which has received hundreds of thousands of visitors at the times of greater boom as reflected by the newspaper Granma.

The Punto Náutico located in the community of Puerto Esperanza will have a bathing area and rental jet skis, single and double kayaks, the so - called bananas, a starting point for boat excursions as well as a bar and gastronomy services.

Located within the Los Colorados archipelago, a 100 - kilometres of cays and coral reefs off Cuba’s northwestern coast, stretching between Honda Bay and Cape San Antonio and featuring popular eco - tourism and diving destinations like Cayo Levisa and Cayo Jutía, in addition to beautiful beaches, black coral and biodiverse marine life, the area is home of more than 170 species of birds,  35 of corals and congregation and spawning sites of numerous species of fishes.

Through the marine currents, the site contributes larvae to the Sabana - Camagüey archipelago and also to the Bahamian bank and Florida.

In 2022, Cuba established in this area a 728 - square kilometres Marine Protected Area in the eastern portion of the region to safeguard critical habitats for hawksbill sea turtles, manatees, and migratory birds.

Director of the Pinar del Río branch of the Marlin Marinas and Nautical Company, Alexander Mrtinez, explained to the newspaper that the initiative arose within the framework of the International Tourism Fair FITCCuba 2025, and his entity is involved in it in alliance with a foreign company.

The executive said that its main attraction will be the boat excursions to four nearby keys, in which visitors will be able to interact with a practically virgin ecosystem of great beauty. The Punto Náutico is a product designed with the participation of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment, and the Hermanos Saiz Montes de Oca University, in order to make responsible use of natural resources. The objective is to take advantage of the potential of this area for tourism, but taking into account respect and protection of the environment.

Currently in an advanced phase of construction, is expected that this new tourism product will start its services in the coming weeks.
